From the Board President- Tim LaLonde
As 2021 is drawing to a quick close, one highlight for me was greeting over 300 people at the first Clayton Community Band concert. It sure made all the planning, replanning and managing the uncertainty of our operations for the last 18 months worthwhile. I also took a trip down memory lane with my former band Nic and the Nice Guys when they performed in early October! The Opera House has a full schedule of performances planned for 2022 and I am looking forward to meeting more of our patrons at future events.
The Opera House is fortunate to have the continued generous support of our loyal patrons and sponsors. We truly appreciate all of you who have helped us. With your support, and from PPP loans and other funding, we were able to maintain our full staff throughout 2021 and are more than ready for 2022. Thank you!
Speaking of 2022, we have a number of headline acts booked for in various genres and for all ages. Did you know that you can have first dibs on tickets before they go on sale to the public if you are at the $100 patron level? Have tickets and now can’t go? At the $250 donation level there is a handy ticket exchange feature you may want to consider if you are not already taking advantage of it. We will continue to have selected movies and speakers throughout the year. And the Opera House is excited to be continuing our popular wine pairing events!
The Opera House was successful in obtaining grant money to purchase live streaming equipment this year. We plan to utilize this in our Arts & Education programming (3 events currently slated for 2022) to reach more schools and present a cost-effective option for participation. Thanks to the Northern NY Community Foundation and the Jon Ben Snow Foundation for their support!
TIPAF is in the process of establishing a planned giving program to enhance our endowment. More to come on this soon.
On behalf of the Board, I would also like to thank our staff for their perseverance in the past year dealing with the uncertainty of when and how we could resume performances. If you have not as yet, please introduce yourself to Anna in the box office who joined us this year and Michaela our Marketing Director who joined us a year ago. We are pleased they are on the team with Julie, Jeff and Dan, who rolled with the COVID punches this past year.
If you have an idea for a future performance or event, please contact Julie or me at timjlalonde@gmail.com. We are here to serve our community and surrounding area as a premier year-round performance center.
Happy holidays and see you soon at an upcoming show!
