V (formerly Eve Ensler) is a Tony Award-winning playwright, activist, and bestselling author best known for the groundbreaking theatrical phenomenon The Vagina Monologues. Published in more than 48 languages and performed in over 140 countries, the play was named by The New York Times as one of the most important plays of the past 25 years. Her extensive body of work includes plays, books, films, and musicals exploring identity, healing, mental health, climate change, and social justice.
A survivor of violence, V has dedicated her life to ending violence against women, girls, and gender-diverse people. She founded V-Day, a global movement that has raised more than $100 million, as well as One Billion Rising and the City of Joy in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Her many honors include the Lucille Lortel Lifetime Achievement Award, the Lily Award, and recognition as one of the world’s most influential women.
