The Jerry Vivino Quartet will headline this year's 6th Annual Clayton Jazz Festival on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 7:30 pm. Jerry Vivino is best known for playing in Max Weinberg's band on NBC's Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
In 1989, Jerry met Max Weinberg when Max asked Jerry to play on a record with a relatively unknown band called Killer Joe. Just a few short years later, when Max was asked if he would put together a band for a late-night talk show, he contacted Jerry. Jerry and his brother Jimmy were both playing with Donald Fagen of Steely Dan at the time, but Jerry agreed to the audition. He has been with Conan O'Brien ever since.
Jerry has also been featured on countless recordings, TV commercials and movie soundtracks, including Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, Paul Shaffer, Frankie Valli, Al Kooper, Dion, James Brown, Phoebe Snow, Donald Fagen, Dr. John, Branford Marsalis and Wynton Marsalis - to name just a few.
Jerry brings with him jazz pianist Larry Fuller, drummer Karl Latham and upright jazz bassist Marin Pizzarelli.
Based in New York City, Larry Fuller is one of the premier mainstream jazz pianists living today. Since 2013 - harnessing his unique bandstand collaborations with the giants - Fuller has led the Larry Fuller Trio, generating hard-swinging, emotive and versatile performances that his audiences love.
Karl Latham's career has spanned the globe performing, recording with and producing with Grammy Award winning artists, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members and multitude of internationally acclaimed musicians. Karl is included in the Drummerworld Top 500 Drummers list and was nominated with Mark Egan and Ryan Carniaux for the BMW 2016 Welt Jazz Award.
Martin Pizzarelli, son of Bucky Pizzarelli, is a jazz double-bassist who is best known for his work with his brother John Pizzarelli, appearing on many of his albums in a swing trio that includes pianists Ray Kennedy and Larry Fuller.
Sponsors for the 6th Annual Clayton Jazz Festival include the Northern New York Community Foundation, St. Lawrence Spirits, the Johnston House and Pearl Productions.
