Press Release 8/25/06 -  TIPAF Announces Appointment of New Executive Director

The Thousand Islands Performing Arts Fund announced today its appointment of Amy Flack to become the organization’s new executive director.

On September 11th, Ms. Flack will succeed TIPAF’s current executive director, Donna Cantwell, who has served in that position for 3 years.

Ms. Flack is currently the assistant executive director for SUNY Potsdam’s Community Performance Series, the organization that collaborated with TIPAF to bring the musical play Always Patsy Cline to the Clayton Opera House this summer. Previously, Ms. Flack acted as the donor relations coordinator for Canton-Potsdam Hospital, as assistant to the director of development for the American Ballet Theatre in New York City, and as foundation assistant for the Princess Grace Foundation, also in New York City.

She is a graduate of Ithaca College, having earned a degree in theater arts management.

Ms. Flack’s immediate duties as TIPAF’s executive director will include collaboration with the Town of Clayton to oversee the $2.8 million renovation of the 1903 Clayton Opera House, a venue for community and cultural events for over a century. Renovation work will begin in November and will be completed by June of 2007. The renovated building will have heating and air conditioning, an elevator, upgraded plumbing and electrical systems, new bathrooms, and comfortable seating and will be fully code compliant.

She will also work in partnership with TIPAF’s board of directors to ensure continued outstanding programming and to further develop the Clayton Opera House patron base as the venue prepares for year round use.
“I am very excited about the position and working with the board as TIPAF and the Opera House enter into this dynamic period of growth. I'm honored to have been chosen,” she said.

Her husband, Timothy G. Flack, is a native of Oswego and is a graduate of Clarkson University. Mr. Flack has been employed as a civil and mechanical engineer for the NYS Power Authority in Massena for 15 years.

Ms. Flack will be introduced to the community at the 6:30 p.m. August 30th performance of the Skye Consort Irish Band, TIPAF’s penultimate Spotlight Series event.
