The Clayton Opera House underwent a $3.2 million historic preservation in 2007. This project rendered the 1903 structure a year-round center for performances and community events. Owned by the Town of Clayton and managed by the Thousand Islands Performing Arts Fund, the stately three-story brick structure overlooks the St. Lawrence River. The building has served as an important hub for cultural and community events for over a century and is a fine example of the type of vaudeville theatre which sprung up throughout the United States during the turn of the last century.
